More than 100 years ago, the Grand Lodge of Michigan recognized the need for a facility to care for senior Masons and their families. In 1891, the first original Masonic Home opened near Reed’s Lake in Grand Rapids.
To meet the financial responsibilities associated with maintaining the Masonic Home, the Michigan Masonic Charitable Foundation was established and supported by dedicated Masons who were determined to give life to the term “brotherhood” not only to the organization, but also to the community.
The Foundation’s charitable focus areas include Masonic assistance to Brothers and their families and supporting community organizations such as promoting literacy, education and public safety, alleviating hunger, and supporting family and youth services. Tackling immediate challenges, enriching lives and deepening the connection between Lodges and their communities is a primary goal for the Foundation.
Empowering Michigan Masons to change lives through charity.
Since 1891, the Michigan Masonic Charitable Foundation has dedicated its support, whether in financial or volunteer support, to Masons and families, and other charitable organizations around the state. The Foundation’s mission, vision and values align with enhancing lives, whether our own or for those in need.
The Foundation believes that every person can make a difference and positive impact on the lives of others. Gifts to the Foundation ensures that the assistance and relief for our Masonic families, as well as the support we give to build and strengthen our communities, are accessible.
More than 240 Lodges in Michigan are tasked to volunteer in their communities. From enhancing students’ educational experience to helping Masonic Pathways residents, service opportunities to help our brothers, their families and others are in demand of volunteers.

Nicely done with the working tools. Aaaaaaand I just learned something about the level. In all the images I never saw or knew how it worked - UNTIL NOW - there’s a string and weight like a plum bob. DAH. Enlightened and a little more honed on my rough ashlar. 📐

DaVinci never considered the Monal Lisa finished. It's also the only piece of work he never let out of his possession.
